PRB Africa Director Aïssata Fall joined CREG (Regional Consortium for Research in Generational Economy) to discuss tools for monitoring the demographic dividend, including the care economy, at the Scientific Days on the Demographic Dividend and Sustainable Development in Senegal, organized by the National Academy of Sciences and Technology (ANSTS). The event aimed to develop policy recommendations to help Senegal capitalize on the economic potential its young and growing population.
Discussions focused on the importance of the demographic dividend, the African Union’s roadmap, the institutional framework for capturing the demographic dividend in Senegal, and ongoing programs. The event also reflected on the progress made over the past decade in conceptualizing and implementing policies related to the demographic dividend and the care economy.
The event was organized by the National Academy of Sciences and Technology (ANSTS) – Social and Human Sciences Section (SSSH), in collaboration with two local partners who represent the administrative and technical arms of the Senegalese program. These partners are the General Directorate of Planning and Economic Policies (DGPPE) and CREG, based at Iba Der Thiam University in Thiès.
