PRB’s Approach to Localization in Global Development

For more than four decades, PRB has collaborated closely with diverse groups that are integral to a democratic society so, together, we can improve people’s health and well-being. Those closest to the issues lead, set priorities, and identify solutions rooted in their population realities—PRB provides support.

Localization is part of our organizational DNA. PRB commits to:

Put our local partners first and follow their lead.

Collaborate with local organizations and individuals to develop an infrastructure for their success.

Share resources in meaningful and transparent ways.

Respect our partners’ work—the materials we create together are in their voice, style, and aesthetic.

Develop and share research in languages and formats for their success that local partners can act on.

Transition donor-funded projects to the leadership of local partners and support their positioning as future direct aid recipients.

We work alongside policymakers, youth advocates, journalists, and other key contributors to society to ensure our approach is inclusive and grounded in people’s needs.

From the start of our partnership with [PRB] until now, we are treated as experts who bring much experience to the table and [are] trusted to lead programs with adequate and timely resources...This proactive and forward-thinking energy by [PRB] to ensure BCAI succeed[s] with all the tools it will need going forward is the best definition of meaningful youth engagement you would find anywhere across the globe."
