PRB is pleased to be part of a consortium selected by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to establish a global network of university researchers who will provide the agency with rapid-response expertise.

USAID announced Aug. 2 that the 11-member consortium, led by the NORC research institute at the University of Chicago, will establish and manage a Research Technical Assistance Center (RTAC) under a four-year award worth up to $24 million. The RTAC project is funded through USAID’s Higher Education Solutions Network, which is managed by the agency’s U.S. Global Development Lab.

The RTAC will help USAID’s missions, bureaus, and independent offices make evidence-based, strategic choices and programming decisions, drawing on the combined expertise of more than 250 academics affiliated with 128 organizations. PRB will have primary responsibility within the RTAC consortium for directing communications, publications, and research translation.

“PRB is thrilled to be a part of this world-class research consortium,” said Barbara Seligman, vice president of International Programs at PRB. “Our approach to research uptake will help ensure that the research answers the right questions, reaches the right decisionmakers, and is packaged in accessible and creative ways, with the end-user in mind,” she added.
